Pillar five
Send your X-rays before you fly. Arrive with a written plan.
If you are coming to Mumbai from London, Dubai, Toronto, Singapore or anywhere else, the three weeks you have here are the constraint. Planning the case before you land is what turns those weeks into finished treatment instead of a diagnosis and a return ticket.

203, Earth Darshan, Girgaon. Twenty minutes from Marine Drive, an hour from the airport outside rush hour.
NRI patients visiting family
Most are already flying in for a wedding, a festival or a parent. Treatment gets folded into a trip that was happening anyway.
International patients
People who have priced implant or full-mouth work at home, found the number impossible, and started looking seriously at specialist care in India.
Patients from outside Mumbai
From Gujarat, Pune, Nashik and further. The same planning logic applies when the journey is six hours instead of six thousand miles.
How it works
Six steps, and four of them happen before you travel.
Nothing here requires you to commit money or a flight before you know what you are dealing with.
You send what you have
A recent OPG or X-ray, phone photographs of the teeth that worry you, your medical history and medication, and your travel dates. WhatsApp is fine.
Dr. Amaey reviews it
A dentist looks at your case, not an enquiry desk. If the images are not clear enough to judge, you will be told exactly which view to get.
You get a written plan
The stages, the number of visits, the time between them and the cost, in writing. Compare it against your quote at home before you decide anything.
The schedule is built around your dates
Appointments are grouped into the days you are actually here, with healing gaps placed where your calendar allows rather than where a textbook would put them.
Treatment in Mumbai
Same three doctors who treat everyone else. Same rooms, same laboratory, same implant systems used across the UK and the Gulf.
Follow-up after you fly home
A direct WhatsApp line, your records and notes in a form any local dentist can act on, and anything needing the chair planned into your next visit.
How long you actually need
What fits into a trip, and what does not.
This is the question that decides everything else. These are the patterns most NRI cases fall into. Yours gets confirmed in writing once we have seen your X-ray.
| The case | Time in Mumbai | What it involves |
|---|---|---|
| One missing tooth | 8 to 10 days in one trip, or two shorter trips | Implant placed, then the crown. A single trip works when the implant is stable enough at placement. Otherwise the crown is fitted on a later visit. |
| Smile design | 7 to 10 days | Cleaning, digital design, try-in, then the final ceramic units. Whitening and minor reshaping fold into the same visit. |
| Three to six implants | Two trips of 7 to 10 days, roughly four months apart | Implants and any grafting on the first trip, with temporary teeth. Final crowns or bridges on the second, once the bone has healed around them. |
| Full-mouth rehabilitation | Two or three trips across six to nine months | Phased: extractions and gum work, then implants, then the final prosthetics, then refining the bite. The phasing is built around your travel, not a textbook. |
| Clear aligners | Three days at the start, three at the end | Scan and planning here, trays worn at home, review visits by video, finishing appointment on your next trip. Whether trays can be couriered to your country is checked case by case. |
| A senior parent’s full case | Typically 10 to 14 days | Comprehensive assessment, gum treatment, then implants or stable dentures. Usually arranged by an adult child, and paced for somebody who tires quickly. |
These are typical patterns rather than promises. Bone quality, gum health, healing and your own medical history all change them, which is why the plan is written after the X-ray rather than before.
About cost
The comparison that matters is yours, not a country average.
Generic country-versus-country tables are marketing. They are built from the most expensive quote abroad and the cheapest option here.
For context, private treatment at home is typically quoted in these ranges, which is usually why patients start looking at all:
| Where you are | Single implant and crown | Full-mouth implants |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom, private | £2,000 to £4,500 | £15,000 to £25,000 |
| United States | $3,000 to $5,000 | $20,000 to $35,000 |
| UAE | AED 8,000 to 15,000 | AED 80,000 to 150,000 |
| Canada | CAD 3,500 to 5,500 | CAD 30,000 to 60,000 |
| Australia | AUD 4,500 to 7,000 | AUD 25,000 to 50,000 |
| 3A Dental, Mumbai | ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 | Written plan after your X-rays |
Specialist treatment in Mumbai runs at a fraction of those numbers, and that gap is not a secret. What it is not is a reason to choose a clinic. Choose on the specialists, the planning and the documented cases, then let the price be the pleasant part.
You will get a written estimate for your own case, broken into stages, which you can hold next to the quote you already have. That comparison is real, because both numbers describe the same mouth.
What to send, exactly
- X-ray
- An OPG if you have one. A photograph of the film held against a window works.
- Photos
- Teeth together from the front, and from each side, lips pulled back.
- History
- Diabetes, blood pressure, blood thinners, heart conditions, bisphosphonates.
- Dates
- Arrival, departure, and any days already committed to family.
- Your question
- What is actually bothering you, in your own words.
Foreign price ranges above are indicative figures for private treatment in those markets, given so you have a reference point. Check them against your own quote.
Materials
The question sophisticated patients ask, and should.
Cost differences between countries come from the cost base, not from the components. Ask any clinic to name what they are putting in your jaw, and be wary of one that will not.
- Implant systems. Internationally used systems, selected per case rather than by what is in stock. The system proposed for you is named in your written plan.
- Ceramics. Zirconia and pressed ceramic for crowns, bridges and veneers, from commercial laboratories rather than in-house shortcuts.
- Planning. X-rays and a CBCT scan before implant placement, so positions are decided on a scan rather than judged in the moment.
- Sterilisation. Instruments pouched and autoclaved, with indicator strips that only change colour once the cycle has reached temperature and pressure. Pouches are opened in front of you.
If you want the specifics before you travel, ask for them. A materials and sterilisation sheet is sent on request, and NRI patients ask for it more often than local ones do.
A word on anxiety
Most people who fly in for this have been putting it off for years.
Very few NRI patients arrive because of cost alone. They arrive because something has been avoided for a long time, the quote at home made it easy to keep avoiding, and a trip finally forced the issue.
Dr. Amaey holds a postgraduate qualification in counselling psychology alongside his MDS. Dental anxiety is understood here rather than tolerated, and the first appointment is built around what you can actually manage on the day.
Say so in your first message and the whole schedule is planned differently.
The practical side
Where to stay, how long things take, what to expect.
The clinic is at 203 Earth Darshan, on the corner of the 8th Khetwadi Lane in Girgaon, a short walk from Charni Road station on the Western Line.
- From the airport
- Roughly an hour outside peak hours, longer in Mumbai traffic. Plan appointments away from 8 to 11am and 6 to 9pm.
- Where patients stay
- Most stay with family. Those who do not usually choose Marine Drive, Churchgate or Colaba, all within a short drive.
- Getting to appointments
- Taxi or app cab is simplest. Charni Road station is close if you would rather use the train.
- Clinic hours
- Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm. Sunday closed. Emergencies by appointment.
- Languages
- English, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi
- Staying in touch
- WhatsApp on +91 91188 33558, before, during and after the trip
We will tell you which areas are convenient and roughly how long journeys take at different times of day. We do not book hotels or flights, and any clinic offering to is adding a margin somewhere.

The same two rooms, the same three doctors, whether you came from Khetwadi or from Toronto.
After you fly home
The part most dental tourism pages leave out.
Here is the honest version, which is more useful to you than a promise that nothing will ever need attention.
You keep a direct line
WhatsApp to the clinic, not to an agency. Photographs of anything that concerns you get looked at by the dentist who treated you.
Your records travel with you
A written summary of what was done, the materials used and the implant system, in a form any dentist anywhere can act on.
Small things are handled locally
A loose contact point or a minor adjustment is faster and cheaper with a local dentist working from our notes than with a flight.
Real issues are planned in
Anything that needs this chair is scheduled into your next visit rather than treated as an emergency.
Review points are set
Check-ins at one week, one month and then at intervals, so problems surface early rather than at the two-year mark.
Nobody pretends otherwise
Long-distance follow-up is a real trade-off. Any clinic telling you it is not is telling you something about themselves.
Why patients pick this clinic
A forty-year family practice, not a tourism operation.
3A Dental was not built for international patients. It was built in 1983 for the families of Girgaon and Khetwadi, and it still treats them. NRI patients came later, usually because their own parents were already patients here.
That matters more than it sounds. A clinic whose reputation depends on the neighbourhood it lives in behaves differently from one whose patients never come back.
- Two MDS specialists in-house
- Implants planned on a scan first
- English, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi
- Anxious patients are a speciality, not a nuisance
- Documented cases you can look at
- Same doctors on every visit

Planning your trip
Questions from patients flying in.
I am in Mumbai for three weeks. Is that enough?
For most implant, crown, veneer and aligner-start work, yes, provided the planning is done before you land. Send X-rays first so the schedule is built around your dates rather than your dates being spent on diagnosis.
What do you need from me before I travel?
A recent OPG or X-ray, photographs of the teeth that concern you, a note of any medical conditions and medication, and your travel dates. WhatsApp +91 91188 33558.
Will I get a written quote before I commit?
Yes. After reviewing what you send you receive a written plan with stages, visit count and cost, so you can compare it against a quote at home before booking a ticket.
What if something needs adjusting after I fly home?
You have a direct WhatsApp line. Small adjustments can often be guided remotely or handled by a local dentist working from our notes. Anything needing the chair is planned into your next visit.
Is treatment in India as good as at home?
The implant systems, ceramics and laboratories used here are the same international ones. What differs is the cost base, not the material. Judge a clinic on its specialists, its planning and its documented cases rather than on its country.
Who will actually treat me?
The same three doctors who treat everyone here. Dr. Amaey A. Parekh, MDS prosthodontist and implantologist, leads implant and full-mouth cases. Dr. Anuja A. Parekh, MDS periodontist, handles gum and bone work. Dr. Ashok R. Parekh founded the practice in 1983.
I am nervous about dental treatment in an unfamiliar country.
Reasonable. Dr. Amaey also holds a postgraduate qualification in counselling psychology, and anxious patients are a large part of what this clinic does. Say so in your first message and the first appointment will be built accordingly.
Can you help with anything other than the dentistry?
We can tell you which areas near the clinic are convenient to stay in, roughly how long journeys take at different times of day, and how to sequence appointments around family commitments. We do not book hotels or flights.
Talk to us first
Send us your problem before you send us a booking.
Tell us what is bothering you on WhatsApp. If you already have an X-ray or an OPG, send a photo of it. You will get an honest answer from a dentist, not a call centre, and you will know what you are walking into before you sit in the chair.
