What prosthodontics actually means
The branch of dentistry that rebuilds teeth.
Most people have never heard the word, and it is not a useful one at a dinner table. In practice it means this: when a tooth cannot be saved, or several cannot, somebody has to decide what replaces them, how it is anchored, how it will meet the opposing teeth, and how it will hold up under twenty years of chewing.
That decision is engineering as much as dentistry. Crowns, bridges, implants, dentures and full-mouth rehabilitation all sit inside it. An MDS in prosthodontics is three additional years spent on exactly that problem, after the five that make you a dentist.
It is why implant cases here are planned on an X-ray before anything is placed, and why the bite gets as much attention as the appearance.

A large share of Dr. Amaey’s implant work is for patients in their sixties and seventies who were told elsewhere that they were too old.
The unusual part
A dentist who also trained in counselling psychology.
This is not a wellness credential bolted onto a clinic. It changes the mechanics of an appointment.
Dental fear is not irrational. It is usually a memory: a needle that went in before anything was explained, a drill that started before the numbness had, a dentist who did not stop when a hand went up. What the psychology training gives is a way of working with that memory rather than talking over it.
In practice: the sequence gets explained before it happens, the pace is set by the patient, a stop signal is agreed in advance and honoured, and the appointment is built around what a person can actually tolerate on the day.
It is also why families send the relative who has refused to go anywhere for fifteen years.
