Everyday dentistry

The ordinary work that keeps you out of the specialist chair.

Most of what happens in this clinic is not implants or smile design. It is check-ups, cleanings, a filling, a root canal that saves a tooth, a crown that stops one splitting. Forty years of this is how the practice was built.

What we do

Everything a family needs, in one set of records.

The advantage of a practice that has not moved in forty years is that your history is in one place. What a tooth was doing in 2011 is on file when we are deciding what to do with it now.

Check-ups and X-rays

A proper examination of teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, with an X-ray where it is needed. You see the image on the screen and it gets explained rather than filed.

Cleaning and scaling

Removing the deposits between the teeth and along the gum line. It does not loosen teeth or damage enamel, whatever you have been told. More on gums

Tooth-coloured fillings

Composite fillings matched to the tooth, no silver. Where decay has gone deeper than a filling can handle, you are told that before the drill starts rather than during.

Root canal treatment

Saving a tooth that is badly decayed or infected from the inside. Done under proper anaesthetic, usually across one or two appointments, and almost always finished with a crown so the tooth does not split later.

Crowns and caps

A cover for a tooth that is too broken down to hold a filling. Ceramic, metal-free options available, shade matched in daylight against the neighbouring teeth.

Bridges

A row of teeth fixed in place across a gap. Sometimes the right answer, sometimes not, because it means cutting down the healthy teeth on either side. That trade-off gets explained against the implant option.

Extractions

Removing a tooth that cannot be saved, including wisdom teeth. Nothing gets taken out here that could reasonably have been kept, and you are told why before it happens.

Dentures

Full, partial, immediate and implant-supported. Made by a prosthodontist, which is the specialty dentures actually belong to, and adjusted until they sit and chew properly rather than handed over at fitting.

Children’s dentistry

First visits, sealants, small fillings, and an early look at how the jaw and the bite are developing. The first appointment is deliberately dull, because a child whose first visit was boring comes back at thirty.

Emergencies

If it woke you at three in the morning, call rather than message.

Pain, swelling, a tooth knocked out, a broken front tooth before an event, a crown that has come off. These get seen the same day wherever it is possible.

WhatsApp is the right channel for planning treatment. It is the wrong channel for acute pain, because nobody is watching it at two in the morning. Ring the clinic.

  • A knocked-out adult tooth can sometimes be put back. Hold it by the crown rather than the root, keep it in milk, and get to a dentist quickly.
  • Facial swelling that is spreading, or affecting your eye or your breathing, is a hospital matter rather than a clinic one. Go to a casualty department.
  • A broken tooth with no pain is urgent but not an emergency. Call in the morning.
  • Bleeding after an extraction usually stops with firm pressure on clean gauze for twenty minutes. If it does not, call.

Clinic hours

Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm

Sunday closed. Emergencies by appointment.

Appointments are booked ahead so that the right doctor for your problem is in the chair when you arrive. For pain, tell us on the phone and we will find space the same day wherever we can.

What we will not do

The promises worth making are the negative ones.

Every clinic says it cares. Here is the version that can actually be held against us.

  • We will not quote a price over WhatsApp without seeing a scan
  • We will not promise a result we cannot deliver
  • We will not pressure you while you are in the chair
  • We will not start treatment on the day unless you ask us to

And the positive half:

  • We will tell you what is actually wrong
  • We will put the plan and the cost in writing
  • We will explain everything before we do it
  • We will tell you when nothing needs doing yet

Offices and housing societies

Dental camps for workplaces and buildings in South Mumbai.

We run screening camps for offices and residential societies across Girgaon, Khetwadi, Opera House, Marine Lines, Grant Road and the wider South Mumbai corridor.

A camp is a screening rather than a sales exercise: each person gets a short examination, a written note of what was found, and a plain answer about whether anything needs doing. Some people need nothing, and are told so.

If you run an HR function, manage a building, or sit on a society committee and want to arrange one, message the clinic with the number of people and where you are.

Who the clinic sees

  • Families across two and three generations
  • Senior patients, including anxious ones
  • Working professionals who need short, planned appointments
  • Children, from the first check onwards
  • Brides, grooms and wedding families
  • NRI and out-of-city patients on fixed trip dates
  • Patients referred by other doctors for the bite and the jaw

A healthy molar

The pulp in the middle of the tooth holds its nerve and blood supply. It runs down through the root canals into the jaw.

Everyday questions

The ones reception is asked every week.

What are your timings?

Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm. Sunday closed. Emergencies by appointment. Appointments are by prior booking, so call or WhatsApp +91 91188 33558 for the next available slot.

How often should I come for a check-up?

Every six months for most people. More often if you smoke, have diabetes, have a history of gum disease, or have implants and extensive restorative work that needs monitoring.

Does a root canal hurt?

The pain people associate with root canals is the infection, not the treatment. The procedure itself is done under local anaesthetic and relieves that pain. Soreness for a day or two afterwards is normal.

Do I really need a crown after a root canal?

Usually yes, on back teeth. A root-treated tooth is more brittle and splits under chewing load, and a split tooth generally cannot be saved. Skipping the crown often means losing the tooth a few years later.

Is scaling bad for the teeth?

No. It removes hardened deposits, not enamel. Teeth can feel briefly more mobile afterwards because the deposits were splinting them, and that settles as the gums tighten.

At what age should a child first see a dentist?

By about the first birthday, or when the first teeth appear. The early visits are mostly about the child learning that the place is boring and harmless, which pays off for the next forty years.

Do you see patients who have not been in years?

Constantly, and without any lecture about it. If the gap is the reason you are hesitating, read how anxious patients are treated here first.

Which languages are spoken at the clinic?

English, Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi. Older patients are usually most comfortable in Gujarati or Marathi and that is how the conversation happens.

How much does a root canal cost?

₹5,500 to ₹6,000 per tooth. Redoing an old root canal is ₹7,000. A back tooth usually needs a crown afterwards so it does not crack: a zirconia crown is ₹10,000 to ₹12,000, and a post and core, if the tooth is badly broken, is ₹2,000.

How much does a check-up cost?

₹500, including the X-ray. You leave with your options and the full cost of any treatment written down.

Talk to us first

Send us your problem before you send us a booking.

Tell us what is bothering you on WhatsApp. If you already have an X-ray or an OPG, send a photo of it. You will get an honest answer from a dentist, not a call centre, and you will know what you are walking into before you sit in the chair.
